BMKG Forecasts Rain, Strong Winds in Jakarta This Afternoon

TEMPO.CO, JakartaIndonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) released a weather forecast for today, May 29, 2023. The agency also issued an alert of rain potential which may be accompanied by lightning for Jakarta.

The capital city will likely be hit by strong winds of short duration in parts of West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta in the afternoon.

The agency also predicted that major cities in the archipelago will see cloudy skies from morning to noon, including Banda Aceh, Denpasar, Serang, Bengkulu, Yogyakarta, Central Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, Palangka Raya, Pangkal Pinang, Ternate, Mataram, Kupang, Mamuju, Makassar, Kendari, Manado, and Medan.

Rain showers, however, will wet Gorontalo, Pontianak, and Samarinda areas.

In the afternoon, there is a likelihood of cloudy skies staying in most of the major cities, while light rain has the potential to shower Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, Pontianak, Serang, and Banda Aceh. Besides, moderate to heavy rain is predicted for Gorontalo, Tanjung Pinang, and Bandar Lampung.

At night, weather forecasts for major cities in Indonesia are mainly cloudy. However, light rain is predicted for several big cities, including Gorontalo and Bandung, and thunderstorms in Tarakan and Bandar Lampung.

BMKG further reported that today’s air temperature may range from 20 to 34 degrees Celsius with the humidity level between 55 to 100 percent.
