TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) launched a search into the office of the Social Affairs Ministry on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, as part of the investigation of the corruption case in the distribution of social assistance in the form of rice.

“Yes there is such an activity (a search),” said KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

However, Ali stopped short of explaining further about the search. He also refused to describe pieces of evidence seized by investigators.

It is known that the national anti-graft agency is investigating a corruption case in the distribution of rice assistance. The aid is determined for beneficiary families of the 2020-2021 Family Hope Program at the Ministry of Social Affairs.

A number of people have been named suspects, including the former director of Jakarta-run bus operator PT Transjakarta Kuncoro Wibowo. The corruption allegedly took place when Kuncowo served as the president director of a state-owned logistics firm PT Bhanda Ghara Reksa Logistics.

The KPK had banned Kuncoro from traveling abroad since February 2023. But the KPK has not yet officially announced the suspects and details of the corruption acts. The announcement of the names of suspects is usually carried out when they are detained.
