TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Monday evening commented on the numerous concert ticket fraud cases ahead of the highly anticipated Coldplay performance in Jakarta at the end of this year.

He regrets that the positive responses to the concert’s announcement among Indonesian fans are ruined by ticket fraud. Uno also said some people he knows were able to purchase more than what the official concert management allowed.

“I met some interesting people at random, and there were those that were able to obtain 12 tickets. There’s also one of my friends who were able to purchase 20 through the official system,” said the Minister in a press conference at his Ministry’s headquarters. Even though officially, one person can only book a maximum of four tickets.

“This is what is truly regrettable. Some people are using the momentum that should actually be embraced collectively,” said Saindiaga Uno.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry and the promotor claim to have negotiated for Coldplay to add to their concert schedule in Jakarta but has not been followed up by the pop band.

Sandiaga Uno ensured that the government through the National Police’s Cybercrime division would take firm action against the ticket fraud perpetrators, especially after there were 14 cases reported already.
