TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's acting governor Heru Budi Hartono participated in a tree planting activity in East Jakarta on Friday, May 19, 2023, on vacant land under the Becakayu toll road, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta. According to Heru Budi, the Provincial Government of Jakarta through the city's Parks and Forestry Service has planted around 10,000 trees at various points in Jakarta throughout 2023.

The tree planting was done together with participants of the Administrator Leadership Training (PKA) and Supervisory Leadership Training (PKP) as well as employees of the Jakarta Provincial Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM).

Heru said that the main objective of the planting activity was to reduce emissions.

"Our climate is getting hotter, including Jakarta which has to catch up on reducing emissions," he said. "This movement can reduce emissions, can reduce geothermal energy which is increasing," said Heru Budi.

Heru Budi appealed to all Jakarta Province's State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to be actively involved in carrying out greening, both in the neighborhood area around the residence and in other areas that are barren or have not been utilized optimally.

To date, the Office of Food Security, Maritime Affairs and Agriculture (KPKP) of Jakarta has also planted 68,000 plants for food security.
