TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the latest survey conducted by pollster Charta Politika Indonesia, the electability of central Java governor and one of the candidates for the 2024 presidential race Ganjar Pranowo, has reportedly exceeded the popularity of his competition; Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto and Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

The simulation conducted by the pollster regarding the three candidates between May 2 to May 7 discovered that Ganjar scored 38.2 percent in electability while Prabowo scored 31.1 percent and Anies collected 23.6 percent.

“Out of the three names, a significant electability improvement was evident in Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto. Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan tended to show a declining trend,” said Charta Politika Indonesia executive director Yunarto Wijaya in his statement on Monday, May 15, 2023.

Yunarto explained that in the 3-name simulation test, Ganjar Pranowo's electability increased after previously experiencing a decline in April, after he voiced his rejection against the arrival of the Israeli U20 football team.

Meanwhile, Prabowo Subianto and Anies Baswedan experienced a relative decline.

Ganjar Seen as Jokowi's Successor

According to the survey, 68 percent of respondents considered Ganjar Pranowo as the figure most capable of preserving President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo's programs. Meanwhile, 20.4 percent answered Prabowo Subianto and only 8 percent answered Anies Baswedan.

Yunarto said that the majority (61 percent) of Jokowi - Ma'ruf voters in the 2019 presidential election also shifted their support for Ganjar, while Prabowo and Anies received 18 and 14 percent acknowledgment from this specific demographic.

The Charta Politika Indonesia survey was conducted with a direct interview method with 1,220 respondents located across Indonesian regions with a multistage random sampling method. The poll si claimed to have a 2.82 percent margin of error.
