TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that most parts of Indonesia will be partly sunny today, May 15, 2023. On Java Island, only Bandung has the potential to be drizzled by light rain in the evening.
It is similar to Medan on Sumatra Island. Meanwhile, moderate-intensity rain will wet Bengkulu tonight and Bandar Lampung in the afternoon. There is a likelihood of rain with lightning in Bandar Lampung in the evening.
Light rain is also predicted to hit Pangkal Pinang on Bangka Belitung Islands and Tanjung Pinang on Riau Islands in the afternoon.
In Kalimantan, only Pontianak has the potential for light-intensity rain. As for the Eastern region, only Ambon and Jayapura will see light rain.
A climatology researcher at the BRIN Research Center for Climatic and Atmospheric Research, Erma Yulihastin, also issued a weather forecast. She predicted that Indonesia will be mostly sunny as there are few clouds.
Erma explained that it is because Tropical Cyclone Mocha in Benggala Bay and Tropical Cyclone Fabien in the western Indian Ocean moved away from the country by pulling existing clouds.
“The movement of the two cyclones caused Indonesia to have clear skies so we will experience scorching hot weather for the next few days,” Erma said on her social media account.
