TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati signed Finance Ministerial Regulation (PMK) No. 49 of 2023 concerning cost standards for the 2024 fiscal year on April 28, 2023. This policy is effective from the promulgation date on May 3, 2023.
In Article 2, the cost standard of electric vehicles for civil servants or PNS serves as a ceiling price or estimate price.
It is outlined that the maximum budget for electric motorbikes is set at Rp28 million per unit, while electric cars for office operations can be budgeted for a maximum of Rp430,080,000 per unit.
Additionally, the procurement of electric cars for echelon I officials is set at a maximum of Rp966,804,000 per unit or nearly Rp1 billion and for echelon II officials at a maximum of Rp746,110,000 per unit.
Yustinus Prastowo, the Finance Minister’s special staff for strategic communication explained that the cost standard is not the same as the budget ceiling. He also ensured that PMK 49/2023 did not mean it was obligatory for every government institution to allocate such a budget.
The policy, he continued, is aimed at providing a legal umbrella if government agencies want to apply for it. “This is precisely to ensure that there are no reckless purchases,” Prastowo said via his Twitter account, @prastow, last weekend.
The policy of using electric vehicles for civil servants' official activities, Prastowo opined, helps to reduce global warming and the burden on the state budget in fuel consumption for official vehicles.
