TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) officially ratified the bill concerning the Government Regulation in lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 or Perpu on job creation into law at the 19th plenary session held today, March 21. The meeting was chaired by House Speaker Puan Maharani.

“We asked all members; can the bill on the Government Regulation in lieu of Law No. 2 of 2022 on job creation be approved and passed into law?” Puan asked lawmakers in attendance, followed by their statement of approval.

Prior to the ratification, Deputy Chair of the Legislative Body (Baleg) M. Nurdin explained the discussion process regarding the bill. He emphasized that Baleg had held meetings with the government, formed a working committee (panja), and listened to the opinions of the mini factions.

The results turned out that seven parliamentary factions agreed that Panja’s discussion was brought to the level II talks to be ratified into law. Meanwhile, two factions, namely the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), refused to allow the Perpu to be discussed in the plenary meeting.

Right before the bill was passed, the Democratic Party and PKS interrupted the meeting, voicing objections. PKS then decided to walk out. “With all due respect, we, the PKS faction, reject Perpu No. 2 of 2022 and declare a walkout for the agenda on establishing the Perppu although we will return for other agendas,” said PKS faction representative Bukhori.
