TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Government, through the Energy and Mineral Resource Ministry, and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the Clean Energy Working Group between the two countries. This deal marked the establishment of a working group for the development of clean energy in Indonesia.

The MoU was signed by the Indonesian Energy Ministry Secretary General Rida Mulyana and the Assistant Secretary of Commerce dan Director General of the US and Foreign Commercial Service, US Department of Commerce, Arun Venkataraman.

Rida said that the Clean Energy Working Group MoU would base the collaboration, as well as supporting and promoting bilateral relationships in the clean energy sector.

According to her, this deal would be the base of bilateral relationships, supporting and promoting the bilateral relationship in clean and renewable energy in Indonesia.

"This will cover various sectors such as CCUS, cyber security, SMR technology, geothermal, bioethanol, and smart city technology for the new capital city of Nusantara. This deal will also replace the Power Working Group MoU signed in 2015," said Rida at her office after the MoU signing at the Energy Ministry office, Thursday, March 16.

The Indonesian government will utilize this Working Group to support the country's electrification and electricity development, with the initial focus of helping Indonesia to reach 2 percent of the energy mix from EBT in 2025 and achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) in 2060 or sooner.
