TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measured at magnitude 5.7 struck Jember in East Java on Thursday at 12:22 Indonesia Western Time (WIB), the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported.

According to the constant observation from the agency, the quake originated from the coordinates of 10.90 South Latitude and 113.30 East Longitude. The epicenter was geographically 302 kilometers southwest of Jember and came from a depth of 32 kilometers.

Fortunately, so far, the agency claims the somewhat strong quake has not triggered the tsunami alarm.

Many social media users wrote on the BMKG account claiming that it was felt up to Yogyakarta, Bali, Pacitan, Tulungagung, and Malang.
