Jokowi Visits North Kalimantan, Monitors Commodity Prices

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo conducted an impromptu visit at Tenguyun Market, Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. During the visit, he checked the price stability and supply of basic commodities such as cooking oil, shallots, and garlic.
“We want to check the prices [of commodities] in North Kalimantan and the supply,” he said in a statement, Tuesday, February 28.
Other than the price of cooking oil, he said that the price of shallots is also well monitored. However, the garlic price increased slightly.
“The price for shallots is also good at around Rp40,000 [per kilogram]. The price of garlic slightly increases. And I see prices of other commodities are good,” the state head said.
He thus concluded that the supply of food and basic necessities ahead of this year's Eid in North Kalimantan is safe.
Earlier, Jokowi inspected the construction of the national industrial area or KIPI which started in December 2021. He said KIPI will help the country export finished or semi-finished goods instead of raw materials.
