TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A researcher of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Erma Yulihastin urged the entire industry to start considering implementing the green business concept for the sake of the environment and to fend off the effects of climate change.
Erma asserted the importance of a significant collective effort during a webinar hosted by Tempo Institute on Monday, February 27. “We need a bigger effort in terms of seriousness to protect the environment.”
“Reducing emissions from greenhouse gases is crucial and in this case is Co2. From here the terminology of green business developed,” she explained.
Erma said the key is how to maintain environmental sustainability and prevent overexploitation in extracting economic value from a natural commodity. She noted that this green business concept is not the responsibility of the government or large-scale companies, home industries or home businesses also need to understand and implement this green business concept.
“Whatever the activities may be, we expect that it does not produce waste or air, water, and ground pollutants. That is the green business concept,” said Erna.
