TEMPO.CO, Herat - A commercial market has been opened for women in Afghanistan's western Herat province to sell their products, said Behnaz Saljoqi, deputy director of the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industries in the Western Zone, on Saturday, Jan. 28.

"A commercial market opened in Herat city, the capital of Herat province, last week, and has facilitated 46 women to sell their products in 46 shops," Saljoqi told Xinhua.

The products include homemade pastry, pickles, fruit jam, and handicrafts, Saljoqi added.

This was the second market opened for women in Herat province over the past couple of months, Saljoqi said, adding that opening markets for women would encourage them to expand economic activities in the country.

Herat's provincial administration supports women with their businesses as part of efforts to stabilize the country's impoverished economy, Saljoqi said.
