TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy Alexander Marwata on Tuesday said that the inactive governor of Papua Lukas Enembe does not need to seek health treatment overseas as they believe the facility available in Jakarta’s Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital (RSPAD) suffices Enembe’s needs.

The lawyer for Lukas Enembe previously requested the antigraft watchdog to permit overseas travel to seek health treatment in Singapore.

“For the moment we will not facilitate the person in seeking health treatment overseas. His illness is able to be handled by the RSPAD in Jakarta,” he added.

KPK, said Alex, will only facilitate Lukas Enembe to seek treatment abroad if a formal recommendation letter has been issued by the team of doctors from the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital or the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI).

Lukas Enembe, Tuesday, was officially examined as a witness for the suspect Rijatono Lakka (RL) in the alleged bribery and gratuity case for an infrastructure project in Papua Province. Enembe is believed to have received up to Rp10 billion in bribes.

After being examined, Lukas Enembe was taken to the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital (RSPAD) in Jakarta for consultation and outpatient care.
