TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Public policy observer from Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Purwokerto, Professor Slamet Rosyadi, said that the revocation of PPKM is a wise decision by the government.

"Revoking the PPKM is a wise choice as a form of relaxation considering the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic, which continues to be under control," Slamet said.

Slamet hoped that in the future, the government continues to exercise and strengthen efforts to contain the Covid-19 pandemic even with the revocation of the PPKM.

"The government can implement more relaxed policy while continue to monitor the development of the Covid-19 pandemic," Slamet said.

According to Slamet, the government must continue to remind the public that the pandemic is not over yet so that the public can continue to exercise health protocols.

Improve vaccination

Slamet added that the government must continue to improve its capacity for examination, tracking, and mitigation of Covid-19 in an effort to anticipate further spread in the public.

"In addition, vaccination coverage is hoped to continue to increase to provide optimum protection for the public," Slamet said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Resource Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) reminded the public to remain aware in implementing health protocols despite the revocation of PPKM.

"Awareness on the implementation of health protocols must continue to be improved because we are still in a Covid-19 pandemic," said Deputy of Coordination for Health Quality Improvement and Population Development of the Kemenko PMK Agus Suprapto.

Agus explained that the revocation of PPKM does not meant that the Covid-19 has ended. Instead, it was intended to educate the people to continue to improve their health to fight the spreading of Covid-19.

"Meaning that the public is expected to continue to raise awareness and understanding concerning the implementation of health protocols, when it is safe to open your mask, for example in open areas, or how to maintain cleanliness by washing hands using soap and running water," Agus explained.
