TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said that two weeks after the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that hit Cianjur, the area is still experiencing aftershocks. In the last 24 hours as of 06:00 am Monday, December 5, there have been five aftershocks.

The BMKG's head of the Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, said that in total there have been 387 aftershocks in Cianjur.

"The aftershock's magnitude is fluctuating but is weakening in general and becoming less frequent," he said.

The most recent aftershock was recorded on Sunday at 9:25 with a magnitude of 2.2 and felt on the II MMI scale, which makes light hanging objects sway.

The latest earthquake that struck Indonesia was in Sirombu, West Nias Regency, North Sumatra. The offshore earthquake of magnitude 4.9 happened at 4:27 this morning from 23 kilometers below sea level.
