TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - House of Representatives (DPR) defense commission approved Admiral Yudo Margono to become one of the candidates to replace General Andika Perkasa as National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander. DPR legislators passed the Admiral following a fit and proper test that was held at Senayan headquarters on Friday, December 2, 2022.

DPR Defense Commission Speaker Meutya Hafid stated that the DPR is "Granting the approval for TNI Commander candidate Admiral Yudo Margono as TNI Commander."

According to Meutya, the nine factions of the DPR took a unanimous decision after a 30-minute in-depth questioning session.

Admiral Yudo Margono was appointed by President Jokowi to replace incumbent TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa who will retire in December. Yudo will be the first TNI Commander under Joko Widodo's presidency who comes from the Indonesian Navy.

During his fit and proper test, the Admiral pledged to legislators that the country will no see arrogant military personnel once he takes the position of TNI Commander.

"If I am entrusted with the position of TNI Commander, I will mobilize everything I can to no longer have any arrogant military personnel who could potentially sever ties with the general public," said Yudo.
