TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, recently revealed some of his strategies to overcome the ongoing flooding in the Capital City. His strategies are purging the muds at reservoirs, and dredging waterways and canals.

Heru said that he routinely inspect the facilities and infrastructure readiness for dealing with floods. One of the things he relies on is to routinely carry out mud purging.

"Routinely purging the mud," said Heru Budi to reporters at the Jakarta People's Representative Council (Jakarta DPRD) building on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Apart from carrying out a mud purge, Heru also said he would develop flood prevention infrastructure to reduce the impact of flooding.

"Yesterday in East Jakarta, I conveyed to the Mayor, to Asbang, yesterday they had already taken measurements at the location for the infrastructure," he said.

Heru hopes that the steps that have been taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government to anticipate floods in the future will go on smoothly. "Hopefully this can go well," he said.

On another occasion, Heru Budi also requested the Jakarta Water Resources Agency to diligently dredge the water canals.

The matter regarding the flood is one of the homework given by President Joko Widodo to the head of the Presidential Secretariat. Heru was also asked to deal with traffic jams and spatial issues.

One of the programs that will be implemented by Heru Budi to deal with flooding in Jakarta is to continue the normalization of the Ciliwung River. A program that was already run during the time of Governor Anies Baswedan.

Heru Budi Hartono targets the normalization project of the 4.8-kilometre Ciliwung River to compete during his tenure as Acting Governor. "The length is 4.8 kilometres," said Heru.

The normalization of the 4.8-kilometre Ciliwung River will be built in Manggarai, especially in the South Jakarta area.
