TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will inaugurate the head of the Presidential Secretariate Heru Budi Hartono as the acting governor of Jakarta on Monday next week, October 17. Heru will temporarily replace Anies Baswedan who will end his term as the governor of the capital city on October 16.
“Yes, that is true,” Heru confirmed to Tempo on October 11.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) spokesperson Benni Irwan said the Final Assessment Team (TPA) session tasked to elect the acting governor of Jakarta took place on Friday, October 7.
The session determined one candidate out of three options who are Heru Budi Hartono, Jakarta Secretary Marullah Matali, and the Director General of Politics and Public Administration (Polpum) of the Ministry of Home Affairs Bahtiar.
Beni said the Presidential Decree regarding the appointment of the acting governor of Jakarta would be issued this week.
Heru Budi Hartono has served as Head of the Presidential Secretariat since 2017 and is known to have been in various positions in Jakarta, one of which was as the North Jakarta Mayor in 2014.
In 2008, Heru Budi Hartono served as Head of the North Jakarta City Infrastructure and Urban Facilities Division. He also briefly became Head of the Bureau of Regional Heads and Foreign Cooperation (Kaburo KDH and KLN) in 2013. During the Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama era, Heru occupied the position of Head of the Jakarta Regional Assets Financial Management Agency.
