TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Syafrin Liputo claimed that Muara Angke Port in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, will be safe from tidal flooding until the next 20 years after the revitalization.

“The travel services to the Thousand Islands will remain open despite high tides and tidal waves,” said Syafrin at Muara Angke Port on Monday, October 3, 2022, as quoted from Antara.

He explained that the port has an area of 4,000 square meters. In its revamp project, the provincial government repaired facilities and prepared supporting facilities to prevent tidal flooding. One of them is by raising the pier about 1.5 meters.

Syafrin claimed that all existing facilities at the port had met the standard of public service as stated in the Regulation of the Transportation Minister concerning the operation of the port.

The port is now equipped with an electronic ticketing system called the Jakarta Electronic Ticketing Boat (Jaket Boat) and an air-conditioned waiting room with a capacity of up to 1,200 passengers and 800 seats.

Syafrin also said Muara Angke Port has been revitalized since 2021. It is hoped that by 2024, the overall revamp project including the dock and cargo shipping can be completely completed.
