TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan claimed that 92 percent of the capital population lives near parks or green open spaces, which is one of the city’s innovation programs presented to the community.

“92 percent of Jakarta's residents can reach a park within 800 meters, so almost 100 percent of them live close to a park,” said Anies when opening a seminar on innovation at the City Hall, Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Based on the 2020 Population Census (SP) of the Jakarta Regional Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the capital city is home to 10.56 million people. Building parks is one of the efforts to boost the quality of a clean and healthy environment, he added.

When disseminating the Governor's Regulation on detailed spatial planning (RDTR), Anies noted that the provincial government has revitalized 480 parks and 29 city parks, as well as planted 140,000 new trees over the past five years.

“Parks are established everywhere and this is the innovation of the team, and the space must be available so that when the idea comes up, the support is prepared and then it becomes a reality,” he remarked.

Previously reported, Anies Baswedan planned to expand green open spaces (RTH) from only 12.12 percent of the capital city area which reached 664.01 square kilometers in 2014 to 30.92 percent in 2022.
