TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Anti-graft watchdog Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) on Monday urged the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to issue an ultimatum to forcefully collect Papua governor Lukas Enembe. ICW argues that this is necessary if the governor embroiled in a corruption scandal fails to arrive at KPK headquarters today, which is the second summons the governor fails to adhere to if he is absent today.

“ICW urges KPK to immediately issue an ultimatum on collecting the Papua governor Lukas Enembe if he fails to appear today following summons from [KPK] investigators,” said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in a statement on September 26.

Kurnia argues that Enembe’s lawyer asking for permission for his client’s health treatment that was sent directly to President Joko Widodo is an act of exaggeration. “That plea should not be delivered to the President,” he added.

Kurnia believes that the KPK can coordinate with the Indonesian Doctors Association to examine Lukas Enembe's health condition

KPK as of Sunday has sent a second summons for Lukas Enembe, who will be questioned as a suspect in an Rp1 billion graft case. The governor’s questioning is scheduled for September 26 at the Jakarta KPK headquarters.
