TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia claimed that six countries have declared their investment commitments to Indonesia's ambitious New Capital City of Nusantara project.

The six countries are the United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and one European country.

"If I'm not mistaken, there are several companies from Germany," said Bahlil at the Presidential Palace on Monday, September 19, 2022.

According to Bahlil, the President asked about the progress of the investments in multiple sectors, including the New Capital City development, the new Batang Industrial Area development, and the North Kalimantan industrial area development.

Although several countries have declared their interest to make investments, Bahlil admitted that there have been no further progress concerning the realization of investment.

Bahlil added that he will be departing for Europe at the end of this month to attract the investors. Similarly, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is also scheduled to depart for the United States to attract new investors.

"There may be progress at the end of this month," said Bahlil.

Bahlil did not provide details on the companies from the six countries that have shown interest in investing in the IKN project. Bahlil had only mentioned LG from South Korea and Foxconn from Taiwan.

"There is also [a company] from the United Arab Emirates, I can't remember, there are several companies," Bahlil said.
