TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo confirmed that the PCR test of a resident who was suspected of being exposed to monkeypox turned out negative.
Even though the test result was negative, Ganjar advised the public to stay alert to various similar symptoms of the viral disease. He also suggested people visit healthcare facilities to check when presenting the symptoms.
As quoted from Healthline, the virus can spread from person to person through blood, body fluids, skin or mucosal lesions, and respiratory droplets. A person can also catch the disease by eating an infected animal.
The virus can invade a person's body through breathing, mucous membranes, or damaged skin. The virus transmission may also occur when a person is with an infected person within a close distance for three hours or more.
Ganjar asserted that the provincial government is monitoring the spread of monkeypox with relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Health, and tightening a number of entry points for this disease, especially in Central Java. The public is also encouraged not to panic.
