TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled to question a witness in its investigation of the alleged corruption case in LNG procurement at Pertamina in 2011-2021. The witness is Bayu Satria Irawan, an employee of Pertamina

"He will be questioned as a witness," KPK acting spokesman Ali Fikri said on Thursday, July 7.

Ali said Bayu would be questioned at the KPK Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta. He did not explain the material for Bayu's examination.

The KPK had confirmed that it was investigating the alleged practices of corruption in LNG procurement at PT Pertamina. So far no suspects have been named.

For investigative purposes, the antigraft body had summoned a number of former high-ranking officials of the state oil and gas company, including former president director (2014-2017) Dwi Soetjipto, and former Board of Commissioners member (2010-2013) Evita Herawati Legowo.

The KPK has also questioned Nur Pamudji, former president director of state power company PLN (2011-2014), and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) lecturer Anny Ratnawati. The KPK had not issued statements about the witnesses' examination materials.

Allegations of LNG corruption were first revealed by Pertamina president commissioner Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok, as he suspected irregularities in the company's LNG sale and purchase contract signed in early 2021.

Ahok said Pertamina was conducting internal audits on the LNG sale and purchase agreements suspected to be problematic. He also said that two contracts were being audited, without providing more details.

"We are waiting for the results of the internal audit," he said.
