TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Most of the G20 foreign ministers have confirmed their physical attendance at Bali’s G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on July 7 -July 8.

This was confirmed in last Thursday’s press release by the Indonesian Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Special Staff for Priority Programs and Co-Sherpa G20 Indonesia Dian Triansyah Djani. However, for safety reasons, he said the list of attendees will not be shared publicly.

“We’ll just have to wait for their arrival,” said Dian on June 30th.

G20 members consist of 19 countries and 1 region, namely: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and European Union. The majority of the G20 member state authorities have confirmed the presence of their delegates.

Apart from the core members, 10 countries have been invited to participate in the event namely war-stricken Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia confirmed to Tempo that foreign affairs ministry Dymitro Kuleba will attend the event virtually.

The foreign affairs ministers’ meeting, according to the Indonesian government on July 6, will kick start with two sessions discussing multilateralism strengthening and the global energy and food crisis. The first session will talk about strengthening global collaboration and building trust between nations to produce stability and peace while the second session will discuss strategic steps in overcoming the food and fertilizer crisis along with the rising prices of global commodities.

Key speakers in the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Prof. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University will present their views in the first session while

David Beasley as Executive Director of WFP, Damilola Ogunbiyi as Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All and Co-Chair of UN-Energy, and Mari Pangestu Managing Director of the World Bank will be featured in the second session.
