TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party politician Yan Permenas Mandenas on Wednesday asserts that the Party’s decision will remain clear to endorse Party chairman Prabowo Subianto on running as a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

He assured that Gerindra will consistently support Prabowo amidst a number of people emerging as potential candidates.

“Gerindra will continue to push Prabowo as a presidential candidate even though the final decision will be on Prabowo himself,” said Yan on Wednesday at the Senayan Parliamentary complex. “He already has a Party that supports him and only needs one or two more parties to meet the presidential threshold.”

However, Prabowo himself was not as assertive as Yan when asked about his chances to enter the presidential race for the fourth time in 2024 and instead believes the Party is free to endorse anyone that meets their requirement.

He added that Gerindra is free to support any candidate that is committed to the Pancasila and 1945 Constitution.

“It doesn’t have to be Prabowo, it can be anyone,” said Prabowo at Central Jakarta’s Nasdem Tower on June 1.
