TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commuter line operator Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) announced that it will still require train passengers to wear face masks, both inside the trains themselves and at stations. This came after President Jokowi announced the no-mask policy for outdoor activities on Tuesday.

According to Anne Purba, VP Corporate Secretary KAI Commuter, trains will operate under new regulations overseen in the Transportation Ministry’s circular letter (SE) No.57/2022.

Anne said that it rules the commuter line passengers to always wear masks at all times. The passengers are also asked to show proof of complete dose vaccinations through official certificates from the PeduliLindungi app or printed versions.

"All users are required to wear masks correctly so that they cover their nose, mouth, and chin perfectly in accordance with the rules. KAI Commuter also continues to encourage people to keep their distance when sitting in the KRL seat or when standing on the KRL trip and always wash hands before and after boarding. carriage," Anne wrote in a statement on May 19.

KAI Commuter also implements a set of new regulations such as banning people from conducting conversations with other passengers and are also banned from answering calls from mobile phones during any trip.

Trains will also carry a maximum 80 percent capacity, both in its Greater Jakarta and Yogyakarta-Solo Commuter Line.
