TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) deputy speaker Zita Anjani outlined three names rumored to have the opportunity to be the acting governor of Jakarta replacing Anies Baswedan. They are Regional Secretary Marullah Matali, Presidential Secretariat Chief Heru Budi Hartono, and Deputy IV of the Presidential Staff Office Juri Ardiantoro.

Zita said the selection of the acting governor is in the hands of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo with the recommendations from the Home Affairs Ministry. Yet, she hoped that Anies’ successor could work “and fully understand Jakarta,” the National Mandate Party (PAN) politician said in a statement, Friday, May 13.

According to her, Anies has set a high standard as Jakarta's leader. The works of the former education minister, she added, were admired by his citizens. “So his replacement must be someone who has the same leadership spirit.”

She also opined that Marullah Matali, Heru Budi Hartono, and Juri Ardiantoro have good qualities to lead the capital.

Whoever will be chosen is expected to be able to realize the development plan and resume ongoing programs. “One of them is Formula E,” Zita said.

On Thursday, May 12, Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said he was still conducting a profiling of the officials who would be proposed as the acting governor of Jakarta to replace Anies Baswedan. He planned to submit three candidate names to President Jokowi in September or a month before the inauguration.
