TEMPO.CO, Serang - The Banten Police planned to impose an odd-even traffic policy for vehicles going to tourist areas in Cilegon, Pandeglang, and Lebak during the Eid al-Fitr 1443 Hijri, or Lebaran, holidays.
The regional police spokesman Senior Commissioner Shinto Silitonga said the traffic rule aims to maintain the safety and convenience of the people willing to spend their long holidays in the Banten area.
“Odd-even policy will be applied specifically in tourist destinations as was previously implemented at the end of 2021 for the convenience of visitors,” said Shinto.
The number of people traveling in Banten during the upcoming Eid holidays will probably surge. Besides, locals who do not go on the Eid homecoming or mudik trips potentially swarm tourist attractions, including religious sites.
“If there is traffic congestion, the Banten Police will apply a one-way traffic policy at certain hours,” he added.
Cilegon, Pandeglang, and Lebak Resort Police will also set up checkpoints. Several destinations in Banten which are favorable for tourists to visit include Anyer Beach, Carita Beach, hotels, and cottages or tourist huts.
“At present, the Banten Police continue to disseminate the odd-even traffic policy implementation to the community which will take effect from D-7 until D+7 of Eid al-Fitr,” Shinto said.
