TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) organizes a religious tour during this year’s Ramadan. The walking tour is part of the city’s Ramadan program dubbed #RamadhandiJakarta.

The agency’s head of marketing, Hari Wibowo, said the first session of the tour was held on Saturday, March 16, and the second one is slated to be held on April 23.

“Jakarta is encouraging urban tourism activities in charming or attractive urban areas, one of the aspects is religion,” said Hari in a written statement, Monday, April 18.

The first session was conducted in South Jakarta and the Thousand Islands, while the second one was prepared in Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and East Jakarta.

In this tour, participants will explore a number of historic mosques and places across the six regions of the capital, including Ramlie Musofa Mosque, Lautze Mosque, Raden Saleh Makmur Mosque, and Al-Azhar Grand Mosque, At-Tin Mosque, Al-Hawi Tomb, and Prince Jayakarta Tomb.

Led by professionals from the Indonesian Tour Guide Association, the tour was attended by the general public and social media content creators.

According to Hari, Jakarta is a city with a lot of Islamic history with many historic mosques. “This religious tourism program in Jakarta will liven up the celebration of the holy month of Ramadan this year,” he pinned hope.
