TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Gerindra Party faction at the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD Jakarta), Rani Mauliani, on Sunday hopes that the future governor who will replace Anies Baswedan in leading Jakarta will be able to communicate with legislators from multiple political party backgrounds.

Her comment comes ahead of the end of term for the current Jakarta governor, who will step down on October 1 this year.

“To not discriminate against whoever it is, as we work as a collective,” said the legislator on April 17.

She believes her hopes are shared not only by Gerindra Party members in legislation, but also by each and every legislator at the DPRD. Apart from total cooperation, Rani believes the future governor must hone the capability of continuing current existing programs.

Governor Anies Baswedan will leave his seat in DKI 1 in October 2022. The pair Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno won the 2017 DKI regional head election (Pilkada). President Jokowi inaugurated the pair on October 16, 2017.

The PDIP faction of the DPRD Jakarta has repeatedly proposed the name of the Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono to replace Anies Baswedan. In addition to Heru, the name of the Regional Secretary of DKI, Marullah Matali, is also said to be worthy of being the Acting Governor of the capital city.
