TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Tuesday said he planned to improve the accessibility of flights destined for Bali. According to him, the resort island is currently in high demand from international tourists.

The island has seen a flow of international tourist arrivals after the government opened Bali’s international borders, Antaranews reported.

“We will discuss this later with colleagues from the Ministry of Transportation whether we are permitted to [expand] amidst very crucial times. Because Bali really needs it," said Sandiaga Uno on April 12.

After an official visit to Australia, the Minister claimed that Australians have shown strong interest to spend vacations in Bali. Currently, there are three direct flights to the island provided by Jetstar from Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth.

He also plans to entice other international flights destined for Australia and offer them transit to Bali. Among these flights he said are from Doha, Istanbul, and Dubai.

"I can see the resurgence ahead of us, the recovery of the tourism and creative economy sector, and surely the creation of job opportunities for the people,” said the Minister on Monday, April 11.
