TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bukit Barisan Military Command (Kodam TNI) I said it is waiting for the results of the police investigation regarding the alleged involvement of military personnel in the case of the human cage at the house of the inactive Langkat Regent, Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin, in North Sumatra.

“Kodam I/BB supports the legal process and law enforcement to any Indonesian army soldiers,” said a spokesman for Kodam I Bukit Barisan Col. Inf. Donald Erickson Silitonga on Thursday, March 3.

Donald said the police are still investigating the case. If military members are involved in the case, he emphasized, they will definitely be transferred to Military Police or Pomdam I/BB and will be followed up in accordance with applicable legal provisions and mechanisms.

“We all uphold the law and the principle of the presumption of innocence. The legal process refers to the fulfillment of evidence and statements of witnesses. If the evidence is sufficient and leads to the involvement of military members, we will take firm action according to the applicable provisions,” he added.

Donald said the ongoing legal process on the case of the Langkat Regent's cage must be respected. “We ensure that there will be no intervention to the legal process in any form,” he said.
