TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) announced an increase in the water level at Pasar Ikan flood gate, North Jakarta, this morning which reached 215 centimeters as of 9 a.m. local time.

“It’s on Siaga (watch) or alert level 2 status,” as tweeted by the agency via its Twitter account @BPBDJakarta on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

The agency obtained the data from the city’s Water Resources Agency (SDA).

The water level at the Pasar Ikan watergate continued to increase this morning. The status became alert or Siaga level 3 throughout 4-6 a.m. The status was changed to Siaga level 2 at 7 a.m. with a water level of 217 centimeters.

The Jakarta BPBD thus warned that nine areas could potentially be affected by flood due to rising water at the sluice gate. The areas are Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru.

Meanwhile, the water level at other sluice gates across the capital is still normal or on Siaga level 4, including Katulampa, Manggarai, Waduk Pluit, Pesanggrahan, and Cipinang Hulu water gates.
