COVID-19; Dozens of Yogyakarta Train Passengers Request Ticket Refund

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Dozens of train passengers at Yogyakarta station were forced to refund their tickets as they did not pass COVID-19 rapid antigen tests. State-owned railway operator KAI operational region (Daop) 6 recorded that from Thursday to Sunday, Feb. 24-27, as many as 81 would-be passengers tested positive for COVID-19.

“The highest number of passengers with positive test results is recorded on Monday, Feb. 28, totaling 31,” said Supriyanto as the spokesman for KAI Daop 6 on Monday, Feb. 28.

According to him, there was a high number of passengers in Lempuyangan Station and Yogyakarta Tugu Station during the past five days which coincided with the public long holiday of the Ascension Day of Prophet Muhammad or is known as Isra Miraj on Monday, Feb. 28.

There were 4,029 passengers on Thursday, Feb. 24, 6,331 passengers on Friday, 5,632 passengers on Saturday, and 7,340 passengers on Sunday. The highest passengers number was reported on Monday reaching 12,107 heading to Jakarta.

The traffic of passengers getting off at the stations of Yogyakarta was also high as there were 6,061 passengers on Thursday, 10,720 passengers on Friday, 11,268 passengers on Saturday, 6,554 passengers on Sunday, and 5,497 passengers on Monday.
