TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Tourists are allowed to visit the City of Yogyakarta this weekend, which coincides with the long holiday until Monday. The special region administration confirmed there would be no traffic restriction even though there is a surge in Covid-19 cases recently.

"We cannot refuse people who are coming to Yogyakarta, but the tourist destinations can, when the capacity has met the regulated quota," said the city secretary Kadarmanta Baskara Aji on Friday, February 25.

The tourists must also be aware that the city is implementing the level 3 Covid restriction or known as PPKM Level 3. It means that the maximum visitor capacity in a destination is only 25 percent of the normal capacity.

"Therefore, what we're doing is to tighten the surveillance in all tourist destinations and public spaces so that the people comply with health protocols and utilize the PeduliLindungi application based on the regulation," said Aji.

He said that the long weekend holiday would definitely affect the surge of visitors.

The chief of the Covid daily mitigation task force in the city, Heroe Poerwadi, called on the people who plan to visit Yogyakarta this weekend to fulfill the requirement. "We don't limit the mobility this weekend, as long as all of the travel requirement during the PPKM Level 3 is fulfilled," said Heroe who is also the deputy mayor of the city.
