TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Education Agency Head Nahdiana claimed there were no clusters of COVID-19 infection in the school settings to date. She said the virus positivity rate currently stood at 0.7 percent.

“Until now, with a positivity rate of 0.7 percent, no cluster of virus transmission has been declared in schools,” said Nahdiana in a meeting with Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission E on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

She explained that the education agency, in tandem with the Health Agency, carried out active case finding (ACF) in 507 schools across the capital. As a result, 99 schools reported positive cases.

The PCR test was then conducted on 30,550 people of the education unit, resulting in 222 positives. Consequently, the positivity rate was calculated at 0.7 percent. “Until now, according to the health agency, there have been no infection clusters in these 99 schools,” she said.

According to Nahdiana, the city administration enforced the ACF method in an effort to deal with a surge in cases following the emergence of the Omicron variant.

She also confirmed Jakarta is still holding face-to-face learning (PTM) at 100 percent capacity, with a maximum learning duration of six hours amid the hike in Omicron cases as referred to the Joint Ministerial Decree on COVID-19 vaccination coverage and the Home Affairs Ministerial Instruction on PPKM Level 2 status.
