TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bali Police Chief General Putu Jayan Danu Putra on Tuesday said police are prepared to implement a precision quarantine monitoring system for foreign visitors ahead of the reopening of the island’s international border on February 4

The reopening of Bali’s international gate only applies to international travelers who are not Indonesian migrant workers, which is locally classified as non-PMI.

He said officials will be able to monitor the quarantine international visitors are undergoing via this mobile app that is designed to prevent subjects from exceeding 250 meter radius from the location of their quarantine, Antaranews reported.

“There will be the quarantine monitoring app ‘presisi’ and as instructed will be applied to people who traveled overseas. They will download the app [so we can monitor] them during quarantine,” said the police chief in Denpasar, Bali, on February 1.

This app is specifically issued to prevent foreign tourists and international arrivals in general from fleeing quarantine.

“There will be a notification or alarm that will be triggered and notified to officials if the person in quarantine exceeds the 250 meter radius limit from the location of their hotel,” he added.

The application of this mobile app has been simulated at the Port of Benoa that subjected fishermen outside of the region.

He assures that the security of the personal data used by the mobile app is guaranteed.
