TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta deputy governor Ahmad Riza Patria on Wednesday said school students that have not been vaccinated against Covid-19 are permitted to go to school as the city is enacting the physical-attendance schooling program or PTM.

The city is also commencing the vaccination for children aged 6-11 years old. Jakarta has reopened schools to 100 percent physical attendance capacity but are limited to 6 hours each day.

“Students who have not been vaccinated under their parents’ supervision are still allowed to participate in the limited 100 percent PTM,” the deputy governor announced in his social media account on January 5.

However, he reminded parents to vaccinate their children as soon as possible and reminded parents that confirmed Omicron transmission continues to climb and is proven to be more contagious.

“They may attend school under strict health protocols, always wear their mask, maintain physical distance, and wash their hands often. Also take the vaccine shots soon, this is crucial to look after them,” said the Jakarta deputy.
