TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration in its Twitter post on Wednesday announced that the city has vaccinated 561,000 kids aged 6 and above in the city’s vaccination for children, which is nearly 50 percent of the initial goal of inoculating 1,173,972 children with the first dose vaccines.

“The Covid-19 vaccinations are highly encouraged for Jakartans aged 6 and above,” the government’s Twitter account @DKIJakarta wrote on January 5, Antaranews reported.

The government uses the Sinovac vaccines for children residing in the capital city and those who go to schools located in Jakarta. This means it does not matter whether the child lives outside of the capital city.

However, Jakarta vaccination centers held outside of schools will only provide vaccines to children whose parents reside in the capital city, which is proven by showing family certificate (KK) or Children’s Identity Card (KIA).

Even though a child is not a Jakarta resident and does not attend school in Jakarta, as long as he resides in the city, they qualify as vaccine recipients. Parents would only need to obtain a domicile certificate from their local RT (neighborhood unit) and have been registered in the citizen data application.

Covid-19 vaccination centers are available in Jakarta schools, community health centers (Puskesmas), hospitals, and community centers.
