TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the Jakarta International Stadium or JIS project was financed through the tax paid by all Jakarta residents.
“JIS is a pride for the citizens of Jakarta. It is financed through tax money from all Jakarta residents. So it is not a gift from company A, company B, but this is a big work from the Jakarta people's taxes, and we can be grateful, we can be proud,” said Anies in the discussion in Jakarta, Sunday, December 12.
The stadium will be opened for the public and the capital residents can immediately make a visit once the construction is finished, he informed. At present, the construction project has entered its 118th week and has reached 87.85 percent complete.
Anies also explained that the project, which has been commenced in 2019, involved at least 4,000 workers. Despite the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, the construction continues under strict health protocols.
Anies Baswedan had attended the initial opening or soft launching of JIS on Saturday, December 11. On that occasion, the stadium management carried out a sound and lighting test.
