TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan laments on a number of malls that have started to ease their health protocol enforcement and the use of the contact tracing app PeduliLindungi. He said that this is due to the implementation of a loosened public activity restriction (PPKM Level 1).
“A sense of feeling safe has emerged, when a group of five enter a mall only three are scanned for their PeduliLindungi,” said the governor at City Hall.
Despite highlighting the issue of communal discipline, he acknowledges that the frequent technical issues by the contact tracing app also contributes to people’s reluctance upon using the app. Baswedan asserts these behaviors are not tolerable.
The relaxed health protocol supervision will be a challenge for the Jakarta Administration, according to the governor, and that the discipline aspect must be restored.
He plans to change this as Jakarta is set to impose stricter public restrictions, dubbed the PPKM Level 3, in early December, even though it was officially planned to be effective on December 24 until January 2, 2022.
