KPK Asks Civilians Groups in Papua to Help Combat Corruption

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) invites civil society organizations in Papua to actively combat corruption. The statement was made by KPK deputy chair Alexander Marwata during a dialogue in Jayapura, Monday, November 22
"Let's join hands to improve the nation and the country that is still slumped by corruption," said Alex when opening the dialogue.
Alex said that in 2020, Indonesia's corruption index score was 37, ranking 102 out of 180 surveyed countries.
"Corruption is still a tumor in natural resources and financial management, both regional and state finances. If we don't care, who else will?" he said.
Alexander asked participants of the dialogue to continue to supervise government administrations in their respective hometowns.
Through a prevention strategy, Alex said, the KPK has made improvements to the system to prevent corruption. He ensured the antigraft body party will be firm in taking action against officials who are still looking for loopholes to commit corrupt practices.
