TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Manpower Ministry’s Director-General for Industrial Relations and Manpower Social Security, Indah Anggoro Putri, said the average provincial minimum wage or UMP in 2022 will increase by 1.09 percent.

The figure is obtained by using a new calculation formula referring to Government Regulation No. 36/2021 on Wages.

From this calculation, the lowest UMP in 2022 will be in Central Java at Rp1,813,011, while the highest UMP will be in Jakarta totaling Rp4,453,724.

“The average adjustment [in 2022] is at 1.09 percent. I'm not saying that this is the provincial minimum salary, but this is the average minimum adjustment on salaries next year,” explained Putri in an online seminar on the 2022 Minimum Wage Determination Process, Monday, November 15.

According to her, the final decision on the percentage increase will be in the hands of the governor of each province and refers to the data published by Statistics Indonesia or BPS. “It doesn't mean that all provincial minimum salaries will increase by 1.09 percent,” she underlined.

The determination of the 2022 provincial minimum wage will be announced by the governor of each province on November 21, 2021. Meanwhile, the district/city minimum wage (UMK) will be announced no later than November 30, 2021.
