TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency is planning to revitalize three ports in Seribu Archipelago. The three ports are essential for economic activities in three islands in the region.

The revitalization projects include ports on Kelapa Island, Pramuka Island, and Sebira Island. The projects, however, was halted following the government's shift in focus in relation to budget when the Covid-19 pandemic hits.

During the discussion of the Budget General Policy and Temporary Budget Priority (KUA-PPAS) of the Jakarta fiscal year 2022, Jakarta's Regional of Representatives (DPRD) B Commission requested the Transportation Agency (Dishub) to continue the project.

Steven Setiabudi Musa, a member of the DPRD urges the project to be prioritized in KUA-PPAS 2022. "We expect it will be revitalized in 2022," Steven said as quoted from dprd-dkijakartaprov.go.id on Monday, November 1, 2021.

Jakarta's Transportation Agency has targeted the revitalization in the final draft of the Regional Development Plan of 2017 to 2022. and has previously allocated IDR 160 million to revitalize the three ports through Jakarta's Regional Budget in 2020 and 2021. "Those ports can improve the Seribu Islands' economy," said Steven.

Member of B Commission, Nur Afni Sajim said that the revitalization of the ports can help the local economy, such as Sabira Island, which currently does not have a port although many large ships want to dock there.

Syafrin Liputo, Chief of Jakarta Transport Agency said that the Agency has included the revitalization budget and soon will be executed in accordance with the needs in 2022. "We have considered revitalizing the budget for those ports next year," Syafrin said.
