Jakarta Deputy Governor Responds to IDR180 Billion Debt for Formula E

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said he would first check the fact about the debt of the city’s Youth and Sports Agency totaling IDR180 billion for the commitment fee of Formula E. He claimed he did not know of the debt issue.
"I'll check it later because I've just heard about it, on whether the provincial government has a loan from Bank DKI," said Riza Patria at the City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 8, 2021.
Riza said that all regional treasuries are stored in the city-owned bank's account. "So everything must go through Bank DKI," added the Gerindra Party politician.
The PSI faction of the Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) revealed that Jakarta's Youth and Sports Agency borrowed IDR 180 billion from Bank DKI in 2019. The money was disbursed to pay the first term of the commitment fee of the international event.
Governor Anies Baswedan issued the power of attorney letter No. 747/-072.26 dated August 21, 2019, for the agency's head Achmad Firdaus to borrow the money from Bank DKI.
PSI also questioned Anies' decision that was considered to prioritize Formula E rather than flood mitigation measures as the Governor canceled the IDR 160 billion budget to acquire lands for the normalization project of the Ciliwung River in the same year.
