TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI) chairman Piprim Basarah said his side would soon issue its detailed recommendations of vaccinations for children aged 6-11.

“Of course, in certain conditions, such as immunocompromised, or for children who are critically ill, who have malignancy, shortness of breath, heart failure and others cannot [be vaccinated],” he said during a press conference on the authorization of the administration of the Sinovac vaccine to children organized by the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) on Monday, November 1, 2021.

“IDAI will soon issue its recommendations, God willing,” he said.

Piprim said IDAI had welcomed the authorization of vaccinations for children aged 6-11 as the country’s child mortality rate due to COVID-19 topped the global list.

BPOM announced Monday it gave a green light to the administration of the Sinovac vaccine to children aged 6-11.

IDAI will also issue its detailed recommendations of COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 6-11 on the requirements for children to get vaccinated.
