TNI, Health Center Provide Health Service for Papua Children

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers of the mechanised infantry battalion 403/Wirasada Pratista border security task force collaborated with health workers from Ubrub public health center (puskesmas) to provide health service for residents in Somografi Village, Web Sub-district, Keerom District, Papua.

Task force commander Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Ade Pribadi Siregar stated the task force has a moral imperative to ensure that children living in the border areas are healthy and receive proper nurture, while carrying out its main duty to defend the national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, the task force's Somografi village post commander First Lieutenant Inf. RakaRegnata informed the health checks are performed to enhance children's health and optimise child development.

"We believe the health examination will make the children more healthy and not easily being infected with many diseases," Regnata said.

The health checks to Somografi village children were conducted by physical examination to examine the child's body weight and height and provision of medicines, vitamins, and extra food of healthy biscuits, he revealed.

"We hope the health checks will be beneficial for the public health and suppressing stunting and malnutrition cases in the village," Regnata remarked.

Village resident Lacerus Kwayot (49), who participated in the health examination programme, expressed his gratitude to the task force and the puskesmas team to provide the health checks for the village children.

"We express our utmost gratitude to the TNI soldiers who assist us by providing health service and medicines for Somografi Village residents and children," Kwayot stated.
