TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The reopening of Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali to international flights has not yet affected the air passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang today, October 14, reported M Holik Muardi as the Senior Manager of Communication and Legal of the Soekarno Hatta Airport.

“No effect yet, the number of passengers is still fluctuating,” Holik told Tempo this afternoon.

The international flights to Bali are direct flights, so he argued that it has not yet caused a big impact on Soekarno-Hatta Airport even though there are several domestic flights to the island.

However, Holik admitted that the air passenger traffic throughout October saw a significant increase. As of October 13, 2021, the Soekarno Hatta Airport recorded around 60,000 passengers.

In October 2021 to date, the number of daily passengers reached about 40,000 to 50,000 on weekdays and around 50,000-60,000 on weekends. The aircraft movement on weekends also reached 400 to 550 flights per day.

Those figures were much higher when compared to those during the emergency state of the public mobility restrictions or Emergency PPKM. At that time, the number of air traffic passengers only amounted to 10,000-11,000 people per day.
